2024 H.A.B.I.B CME Conference Poster

Imamia Medics International Canada (IMI Canada) will be hosting its next Continuing Medical Education Conference, the H.A.B.I.B. Conference, on the Holy Land of Karbala from Friday November 22nd to Sunday November 24th, 2024.

H.A.B.I.B. stands for Healthy Aging Brain Intellect Body, but encompasses so much more in meaning. In this conference we hope to cover topics that pertain to healthy aging; mentally, spiritually, and physically. We will elaborate on these topics look at them through the lenses of religion, culture, holistic medicine and modern medicine. We will explore chronic disease, end of life, and focus on prevention rather than treatment or management.

With many amazing speakers, including internationally renowned keynote speakers who will give new insights and information on living healthy throughout different stages of life, this is not a conference you want to miss! This event will attract attendees from Medical Doctors, Allied Health Professionals, Nurses, Pharmacists, Researchers, Students and Industry leaders from North America and across the globe!

The conference has been designed to engage all; we encourage you to attend with your family, as there will be special workshops to engage all attendees. IMI Canada’s CME program team has worked extensively to create a program that will engage all specialties, and create value for all who attend.

The IMI Committee has secured a limited number of rooms at a special, discounted rate for conference attendees at The Baron Hotel. These special rates are available until October 1, 2024, or until sold-out, on a first come, first serve basis.

Booking through IMI with The Baron Hotel will include accommodation at a discounted rate and meals. You can also add-on the Baron Hotel’s ground transportation to/from the airport, meet & greet and visa assistance.

Registration

    How do I register for the conference?
  • Registration is now open on our website! Click Here and scroll down to complete your registration.
    Can I register for others?
  • Yes, you can! Of course, you will have to provide their information as well so that we can register them individually for the conference.
    What does the Full Access Registration include?
  • The Full Access Registration includes access to all pre-conference workshops, opening and closing ceremonies, all presentations and lectures on the main day of the conference, CME certification for all medical professional attendees, refreshments, as well as any additional local engagement programmes.
    I want to bring my spouse/family with me. Do they need to purchase a ticket as well?
  • Each individual that will be attending the conference must purchase a ticket and be registered individually. If the accompanying family member will not be attending the CME conference but would like to attend the opening and closing ceremonies, there is a special rate Family Add-On (Partial Access) Registration available.
    What does the Family Member Add-On Registration include?
  • The Family Add-On (Partial Access) Registration includes access to the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as any pre-conference workshops on Friday November 22nd, 2024.
    Does my conference registration guarantee a room reservation?
  • No, your conference registration does not include a hotel reservation, nor does it guarantee a room reservation. During registration, you will have the option to reserve your room and pay a deposit fee to secure the booking. Please see below for more questions related to the conference hotel and reservations.
    What is the refund policy for conference registration?
  • Conference registration refund requested prior to September 1, 2024, will be processed minus a 15% deduction for administrative fees. Conference registrations are non-refundable after September 1, 2024.

Travel and Transportation

    When should I plan to arrive?
  • The pre-conference workshops and Opening Ceremony will be held on Friday November 22nd, 2024; the final programs will be held on the morning of Sunday November 24th, 2024 (Insha’Allah). To get the most out of your experience at the HABIB Conference, we recommend you arrive at the Baron Hotel in Karbala on Thursday night and depart the Baron Hotel / Karbala Sunday afternoon. You are welcome to set you own itinerary for your trip according to which days and which programs you wish to attend. During registration, please include your arrival and departure dates for your stay at the Baron for hotel booking purposes.
    Which airport should I book my flight to?
  • Najaf International Airport and Baghdad airport are the closest airports to The Baron Hotel. Najaf International Airport is located approximately 100 kms (62 miles) from The Baron Hotel, while Baghdad International Airport is located approximately 120 kms (74.5 miles) from The Baron Hotel. Transportation fees are calculated accordingly.
    Is there ground transportation from the airport to the hotel?
  • The Baron Hotel has transportation packages from both Najaf and Baghdad airports. These packages include Visa assistance at the airport for “visa-on-arrival” approved countries. The packages, based on a minimum of 2 people, are as follows
    • From Najaf International Airport: $175 USD per person
    • From Baghdad International Airport: $225 USD per person
    Is there ground transportation and assistance available for 1 person?
  • Yes. The Baron Hotel will be happy to work with you directly to organize your individual travel. Please keep in mind that the charges for this assistance would likely be higher for one person. As such, the Baron Hotel can also help connect you with another solo guest who would require transport and assistance at the same time as you to help manage costs as well. They would discuss these options with you directly and advise you of rates and sharing possibilities. Please contact them directly.

Hotel Information, Reservations & Deposits

    Where is the conference taking place?
  • The conference will take place at The Baron Hotel, Located at Plot #1 & #41, District #30, Sayeeda Zainab al-Kubra Road (formerly known as Al-Hussainia), Holy Karbala, Iraq. Details on the Baron Hotel are available at: https://www.thebaronhotels.com/
    Are there special hotel rates available for conference attendees?
  • Yes. The IMI Committee has secured a limited number of rooms at a special, discounted rate for conference attendees at The Baron Hotel. These special rates are available until October 1, 2024, or until sold-out, on a first come, first serve basis.
    • Single Occupancy (limited availability): $130 USD per night
    • Double Occupancy (King Bed): $80 USD per person, per night
    • Double Occupancy (2 Twin beds): $80 USD per person, per night
    • Triple Occupancy (3 Twin beds): $75 USD per person, per night
    Is there a special hotel rate for children?
  • Children between the ages of 0-5 years can stay at The Baron for free provided there is only one child per room, and they are sharing the bed with an adult.
  • Children between the ages of 6-10 years can stay for $50 per night with an extra roller bed and sharing their room with an adult.
  • Children older than 10 years of age will be treated as adults.
  • Please note: all minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
    What does the hotel rate include?
  • The per person rates include the room accommodation and 3 (three) meals per night booked.
    How can I book my hotel rooms?
  • You can easily reserve your hotel rooms at the Baron during the online registration process. Please note: You only pay a deposit amount to reserve your room and include the details for the days and duration of your stay which would be shared with the Baron Hotel. You will then be responsible for the full payment based on the booking.
    Will I have to pay for my whole hotel stay in advance?
  • No. We will only be taking a one-night deposit of $85 USD per person (5 years and above). The remaining balance of your payment will have to be paid by you directly to the Baron Hotel at check-in. Please note the payment will have to be made in USD cash.
    Is the deposit amount the same for kids?
  • Yes. For children 5 years and older, the deposit used to secure your stay will be $85 per person. The Baron will adjust that extra payment with you at check-in. No deposit amount would be required for children under 5 as their stay will be free.
    What does the deposit go towards?
  • The deposit will secure your hotel reservation at The Baron, the venue for the conference. $80 USD will be put towards one night accommodation for one person and $5 towards the online payment processing and transfer fees. You will need to make the rest of the nights’ payments directly to Baron upon check-in based on the pricing shared above.
    I am traveling alone-can I get a single at the Baron?
  • Yes. However, singles are very limited and we may run out very quickly so we encourage you to book as soon as possible.
    I would like to get a Single room but it shows as “unavailable”
  • Singles are very limited. If the site shows the room as unavailable, we likely have run out of Single rooms. Please email us at info@imicanada.org to see if another room can be requested from the hotel for you.
    Can I stay longer than 3 nights at the Baron?
  • Yes. However, the special discounted rates are only available for a maximum of 3-nights. For any extensions of your stay, once you have paid the deposit for your room through the conference registration site, you can contact the Baron hotel directly for any additional night stays and arrangements.

    Do we have to book at The Baron or can we book another hotel?
  • You are not obligated to stay at The Baron Hotel. However, it is the only hotel where we have secured special rates for conference attendees. If you wish to stay elsewhere, please note that you will be responsible for your own transport to and from the conference venues, including all additional programs.

Visas

    Do I need a Visa to attend this conference?
  • In most cases you will need a visa to travel to Iraq (unless you are an Iraqi national/passport holder).
  • The visa process varies by your nationality and country of residence. Please check with the Embassy/Consulate of Iraq in your country for the most updated information.
  • Visas on Arrival: Applies to citizens/passport holders from Canada, European Union countries, China, Russian Federation, French Republic, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, the US, and the UK.
    • For conference attendees flying from any of the above listed countries, you will need to show the hotel booking for boarding flights, along with your ticket copy, COVID vaccination card/certification (varies), your passport (valid for 6 months after our trip, no Israeli visa & must have 3 unused visa pages). Once you arrive at Najaf or Baghdad, visas would then be issued on arrival. You will need your passport, hotel booking and may need to show your proof of vaccination as well. There will also be a visa form to complete and turn in at the airport, along with your visa fee in cash.
  • Visa Approvals/Stamping in advance (Applies to citizens/passport holders from Pakistan & India or any country not listed above for visa on arrival.)
    • You must get visa approvals in advance and complete the stamping process prior to your departure to Iraq. You can contact any travel agents specializing in tours to Iraq for assistance or the Baron Hotel who will help you with the visa approval process (for an additional fee).
  • Please review visas requirements for any additional stops that you may have including Istanbul, Dubai and Doha.

Registration and Hotel Deposit

All prices are in USD. If you are booking your stay at the Baron Hotel for the Special Discounted Rates with us, you will only be paying the one-night per person hotel deposit through this form. The remainder of your hotel payment will be made by you at the Baron Hotel in USD cash.
